And now…here’s Shawntel’s take on the finale episode of Ashley Hebert’s season. Who did Ashley pick?
I am going to start off by saying; I am NOT surprised that we just watched Ashley chose JP. I called this a long time ago and it was so clear how Ashley and JP were meant for each other.
I know the feeling Ashley had when she got to see her family for the first time in a long while. What a great feeling to be able to see people that love you and only want the best for you. Ashley’s family seems to fit right in that category. We also got to see that Ashley’s family is very protective of each other; especially her sister.
JP was the first to meet Ashley’s family and I thought that it was going so well…until he talked with Ashley’s sister. That was a very awkward conversation. It reminded me a lot of my season when my dad and I had our conversation about his concerns. Ashley’s sister was honest — showing her protectiveness for her younger sister. JP took offense to that and I don’t blame him.
JP was able to talk with Ashley about the conversation he had with her sister and I think this set Ashley off. So Ashley talked with her sister…
“You’re acting like a bitch…”
Wow, I was not expecting that. I think her sister was being a normal protective sister, though her sister has NO idea what Ashley has gone through with this journey. She knows little of it. It’s tough for both sides.
I was so happy that JP finally told Ashley that he has been in love with her for a while now. She needed to hear that!
I could tell that Ashley was excited to see Ben and have him meet her family. He was comfortable with them, and I could tell that her family really liked Ben. I think Ashley was trying really hard to have the same feelings for Ben, as he had for her, but you can’t force those feelings.
I said this in my last blog; Ben is in a win-win situation. He has grown a lot during this journey. With or without Ashley, Ben is now in a better place.
Watching Ashley contemplate her two men, I was wondering if she was going to still pick JP even though her family wasn’t too sure about him (especially her sister).
Watching Ben come off the plane first, I was not too sad. Yes, it’s going to hurt Ben for a bit, but I really think that JP and Ashley are meant for each other and Ben was able to grow regardless. The rejection is strong and hurtful, but once that realization is clear on why things happened the way they did, you know it’s for the better. That’s how I felt with Brad. At first I was very upset, but soon after I was able to grow from the experience and move forward.
We all saw how upset Ben got. And we don’t blame him. Like I just said, it’s a hard situation and you are very vulnerable. I liked how Ben said, “Don’t sugar-coat this.” SO true. That makes things worse! Ben is going to have no problem moving forward and finding love.
I was SO happy seeing JP walk off the plane and walking up to Ashley. You could see the happiness they both have with each other. They both took that leap of faith and they agreed that it may be hard, but they will do it together.
Woohooo! Ashley made a good decision and followed her heart regardless of her sister’s feelings. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut!
I wish them the most happiness in the world.
